Yard Work, Gutter Cleaning & Holiday Decorating Lead to Injuries
PikStik Offers Safe Alternative to Hazardous Ladder Use
It is that time of the year, temperatures are cooling, kids are back in school and it won’t be long before the garden is blooming. Spring is in the air – literally! More time in the yard can mean more ladder accidents.
The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons recently published that in the U.S. more than 500,000 people a year are treated for ladder related injuries, and that number does not include people who suffered injuries but did not go to a medical care provider for treatment. While many of us will use a ladder to attempt at least some sort of DIY project this year, there is a safer alternative for some tasks. The new PikStik TelescoPik reacher is the first fully adjustable reacher that enables users to safely clean up the yard and even clear out gutters. The innovative design of the new TelescoPik allows users to retrieve or put away items safely without undue stretching, bending and straining, actions that are often taken on ladders and result in injury.
With a simple turn of the locking collar on the shaft, the TelescoPik adjusts from 30”- 44” – eliminating the need to purchase several different size reachers. The TelescoPik is constructed of strong aluminum and polycarbonate materials making it durable yet lightweight. Other features include:
- 5 1/2” wide jaws allow it to rotate 90 degrees in order to fit into tight and awkward spaces.
- Foam rubber inserts on the jaw tips that enable it to hold objects as small as a dime.
- An Ergonomic trigger grip that can lift objects weighing up to five pounds.
- The TelescoPik reacher is available at most hardware stores nationwide.
